How Do I Order a FLEXnet Dongle for Synopsys Tools?

Question:

How Do I Order a FLEXnet (FLEXlm) Dongle for Synopsys Tools?

Answer:
You can order FLEXnet-compatible USB dongles from Acresso Software, formerly a division of Macrovision. Follow this procedure:

  1. Contact Synopsys support to make sure that your Synopsys tools run under the desired version of the Microsoft Windows OS. (Synopsys does not support dongles running under other operating systems such as Linux.)
  2. Contact Acresso to obtain a quotation and to place your order for either a USB dongle (FLEXid=9, part number FLEXid-ALAD-08304) or a parallel port dongle (Flexid=8, part number DS1410E-GSI).

    Dongle request e-mail address: flexid@acresso.com Contact: Guillaume Brossais at 44 870 873 6300 or 44 1928 706 6346.

  3. After you have received the dongle, pass the dongle hostid information on to your sales representative. The dongle hostID (needed for "cutting" your license key file) is printed on the dongle and has a "FLEXID=9-" or "FLEXID=8-" prefix and an 8- or 12- character suffix. For example: FLEXID=9-12345678 (Aladdin USB dongle)
  4. Note:
The USB "FLEXID=9" dongle is compatible with HSPICE version 2005.03 or higher. Rainbow "FLEXID=7-" and Dallas "FLEXID=8-" parallel port dongles are compatible with all HSPICE versions.
  5. If this order is related to the rehost of an existing license file, you must fill out a "rehost form," obtainable from your sales rep (there might be a rehost charge). Off-support licenses cannot be rehosted.
  6. Download and install the latest version of SCL for Windows. If necessary, install the dongle driver included with SCL (IDInstaller.exe). Use lmtools to start SCL for Windows. For more details on how to start SCL on the Windows OS, see the following link:
