DesignWare® System-Level Services

Synopsys has an extensive and successful track record with our customers of creating and deploying transaction-level models (TLMs) and virtual platforms for early software development. With more than 60 staff-years of engineering experience in building models and platforms, Synopsys has demonstrated the necessary expertise in both hardware and embedded software design to help you meet your system-level modeling goals.

Our system-level experts provide the following services to your project teams:

Model Creation
The development of new or customer-specific transaction-level models not currently available in the DesignWare System-Level Library. The focus is on speed and accuracy: models built for fast simulation execution with the detailed representation of the hardware so that the same software that runs on the models runs on the hardware -- unmodified.

Virtual Platform Assembly/Customization
The development of new virtual platforms or the customization of pre-existing platforms representing the latest design intent. Virtual platforms are more than a collection of models; their creation requires system-level understanding and knowledge of tools for developing and executing virtual platforms, such as Synopsys' Innovator. With over 50 complex virtual platforms developed to date, Synopsys is uniquely qualified to assist in the integration, debugging, and testing of your virtual platform.

System-Level Methodology Consulting
Synopsys experts deliver technology consulting and training on virtual platform tools and methodologies to accelerate your team's learning curve and modeling productivity.

Highlights
Virtual platforms can effectively contribute to lowering the risk and decreasing the time-to-market, through early software development and hardware /software integration. The major benefits of virtual platforms include:

  • Enabling concurrent hardware/software development, by using Virtual Platform technology and models, system and application software development can begin months earlier in the product development cycle, and concurrent with hardware development.
  • Reducing the SoC-based product release cycle by 6 to 9 months.
  • Improving software development productivity, typically by a factor of 2-5x, by allowing unlimited observability and controllability of the target hardware, and by predictable and repeatable execution of debug scenarios.
  • Promoting continuous hardware/software integration, rather than software and hardware meeting near the end of silicon development which is no longer practical in today's fast-paced markets.

Below are examples of virtual platforms developed for customers as part of our System-Level Services.
