Junior Achievement, Developing the Workforce of Tomorrow – Dublin, Ireland
Synopsys provides an annual grant to Junior Achievement (JA) programmes in Blanchardstown and Kilcock. Synopsys volunteers are ambassadors of education and their hard work is the cornerstone of the success of Junior Achievement, and the corporate volunteer presence in the classroom acts to reinforce in the strongest possible way the JA message of education, employment and enterprise.

Synopsys volunteers taught the JA programme to 66 students in 2 local schools throughout this past school year. The students examined a variety of challenges and opportunities involved in planning and building a city. They analysed the various issues and problems that exist with regard to city and town planning. The students built their own city and they operated a number of businesses, to great success.

In addition to delivering workshops, the volunteers also educated the students on the employment opportunities in Synopsys and their own career paths within the organisation. In many cases, the presence of the volunteer in the classroom inspired the students to ask questions regarding their own career decisions, subject choices and employment opportunities.
